Changing chart colors

Color is used to distinguish chart elements from one another. Color is also used to apply an organization's branding profile to charts. Color can be applied to most chart elements, including the chart title, tooltip and series.

Setting chart colors

Series in a chart are distinguished using colors. Colors assigned to a series are also reflected in the legend.

  • Click a chart on the project homepage
  • Expand the Appearance styles tab
  • Under chart colors, click the colored circles to expose a color picker or enter a hex code
  • Click + to add a new color
Note: The first color is by default assigned to the first series, the second circle to the second series, and so on. Drag and drop the circles to rearrange their order.

Tip: Often when creating a chart a theme is applied in the project wizard. The theme contains your organization's brand colors. If your chart is created this way it is usually not necessary to edit these colors.

Adjust the colors in the chart title

Adjust the text elements in the chart with the rich text editor.

  • Open a chart from the project homepage, then expand the Text tab
  • Click the pencil icon in the title field
  • Highlight the text, then click the colored circle to open the color picker to select a color or enter a hex code
Tip: The rich text editor is also accessible by clicking the title or other text elements - in the chart preview area.

Changing the series color

You can set a color for a specific series as a way to draw the user's attention to it.

  • Open a chart from the project homepage, then expand the Chart type specific tab
  • Select the relevant series and click the colored circle next to Series color to open a color picker to select a color or enter a hex code.
Note: Series color, if set, will override the Chart colors in the Appearance styles tab.
